Origins
Born to Norton and Edna McCoy, Henry- from the womb was different. Doctors remarked at the size of his feet and hands upon birth, Norton and Edna however, saw a beautiful little boy that they called their own. Despite being different through the years, his parents always supported him- not very common with mutants. McCoy excelled in sports from an early age, but he really showed a grasp for education, especially science. As much of an athlete McCoy was, his gifts allowed him a competitive edge- he much rather enjoy his time with his eye against a microscope learning as much as he could in regards to biology, his true love. By the time he graduated early from high school at 16, he actually could have done so at 14 but wanted to build his resume as a two time All-Illinois football and track star- but sadly, after the State Championship game McCoy was viciously beat by a mob of angry humans who felt McCoy had no place in their world. Soon thereafter, McCoy was at a physical therapy session, he crossed paths with Charles Xavier who knew of him- Xavier confided in Norton and Edna that he could help McCoy flourish as a scholar and as an individual if he was allowed to partake in Charles'; Xavier Institute for the Gifted. Norton and Edna knew Xavier was the mentor none of them could be and allowed Henry to go- and he's never looked back. His 'brothers,' in Scott and Alex gave him a solid base of friendship- as did the later addition of Warren Worthington III and Emma Frost. McCoy definitely feels betrayed by Scott's recent actions and words towards Xavier, but ever the optimist, he feels that time heals all wounds, including this one. Taking up Xavier's offer on becoming the new Headmaster of the Institute, McCoy looks to continue his research on mutants so he can help build a brighter future for them.
