To the public, the XIG [Xavier Institute for the Gifted] is home to brilliant minds from across the world from preschool aged children to that of adults. The estate was left to Professor Charles Xavier by his father, Xavier wanted to ensure the future and decided on creating a boarding school with several levels of instruction available.

To those within the walls of the XIG, it serves as training ground for other mutants to be able to blend in and subsequently transition into society. There is no limit to the length of time one can stay at the estate as long as they follow ordinance. However, more experienced tenants are also expected to teach classes to give back in an area of their specialty.

Location: Bedford Hills, New York
Headmistress: Emma Frost

After going public with the news that both he and his significant other, Emma Frost were also mutants [joining Xavier as the only three known publicly] Summers decided that another school should be offered to those who are 'different,' thus, The Summers Academy.

Unlike the Xavier Institute for the Gifted, The Summers Academy is NOT 'invite-only.' and parents are able to enroll their children. The major difference between the two is this is K-12, once you graduate, you are on your own.

In Earth 1413, the state of New York nearly mirrors Earth-616's. There's hardly a difference, the landmarks, political climate is just about the same with the only difference being the obvious lack of X-MEN history, events and knowledge.
